Ken Webb
Senior Consultant Supply Chain and Logistics
Where was I born?
I’m another Cantab but now ensconced in Auckland and making the most of the lifestyle the Hauraki Gulf has to offer.
What was I doing before I joined Numero?
After leaving school I joined the NZ Army and underwent Officer Training which included a stint at Massey University where I graduated with a Bachelor of Arts and a Diploma of Business Management. During my twelve years as an army Officer I spent time training in Malaysia, Singapore and Hong Kong and held various command and operational appointments. I was also lucky enough (or unlucky enough as some might say) to work with the United Nations firstly in Angola as the Supply Chain and Logistics Officer and then in Former Yugoslavia as a Peace Keeper.
On Leaving the Army I worked in France as the Operations Manger for a ski company in the French Alps and then in Nepal managing a lodge and acting as a part time guide in the Annapurna Himalayas.
On returning to New Zealand I was employed by Arthur Ellis (ltd) who at the time was one of New Zealand’s largest manufacturers of high performance outdoor products. Reaching the position of General Manager of one of their divisions, I was involved in every aspect of the value chain. My major project whilst with Arthur Ellis was to move the manufacturing plant offshore managing a seamless transition to ensure minimum impact on our cost of doing business whilst maximising our sales into the retail network.
Why do I work at Numero?
I work here for a number of reasons. Firstly the people, the team at Numero are a professional and intelligent group who create a vibrant and fun workplace. Secondly, you get to work across and gain an understanding of a broad variety of interesting industries, and meet the people who make these organisations tick! And importantly, the offices are only 10 minutes from home!!
What do I do at Numero?
As the Business Manager I am responsible for the implementation and delivery of key strategic business plans associated with our Supply Chain and Logistics channel. I also work closely with clients ensuring we excel in our service delivery to all of our clients.
What do I do with my spare time?
Spare time????? As a father with two young girls and a wee boy I spend a great deal of time on the lounge floor acting as an all in one combination horse, trampoline, aeroplane and crash pad. However, I do enjoy free diving, snowboarding and the odd long distance adventure event. A good movie and a good book are enjoyed with relish. And time spent at the beach with the family is always a priority. Finally, a cold beer on a hot summers afternoon with a close group of friends is a great finish to any weekend.
