Where was I born.
I was born in Christchurch and lived there until I went to Massey University – it was at this stage that I gained the sight in my other eye.
What was I doing before I joined Numero.
After University I secured every 22 year old males’ dream job as a sole-charge Brewery Manager for the Loaded Hog brewery bar in Wellington. After 4 years I headed to the UK on my O.E and “fell” into recruitment when I joined Hays Accountancy Personnel and I have never looked back! After 2 ½ years recruiting finance and accounting professionals in the not-for-profit sector I was ready to return to NZ. I joined Robert Walters initially as a consultant and later as manager of their permanent finance team. Immediately preceding setting up Numero I spent 18 months at our sister company, Gaulter Russell, familiarising myself with the service levels and value add that makes our businesses unique.
Why do I work at Numero.
I thoroughly researched the New Zealand recruitment market before joining Gaulter Russell and the opportunity of establishing Numero was an obvious attraction. Equally important in my decision making was the company’s focus on quality and “exciting the customer”, the ability to innovate and the great team of passionate people who I met in the business. Working closely and learning from John, Jenny & James was the icing on the cake.
What do I do at Numero.
Having been here since we were established, I am the senior member of the Numero recruitment team. In 2005 I was offered and accepted the opportunity to invest in Numero and as a result I sit on the shareholder team. In terms of my day to day involvement, I recruit senior candidates for some of our key clients and am also active in developing and managing account relationships. In any spare time I work with the rest of the team ensuring our efforts are co-ordinated and we make the most of every opportunity we get.
What do I do with my spare time.
Our third child arrived the week before Xmas 2007 so spare time is less common but I still grab every chance I can to spend time in the ocean. I have enjoyed scuba diving for over 20 years and in the last 8 years have developed a love of free diving and spear fishing – a pastime I share with Ken Webb who heads our supply chain team. I also love cooking and entertaining.
